JOB SUMMARY:
The General Maintenance Worker (GMW) will provide maintenance and repair to all of Sagamok Anishnawbek’s Housing Department assets.
In support of Sagamok Anishnawbek’s goal of providing quality management, the GMW will strive to improve operations, streamline work processes, and collaborate with other departments to provide efficient and high-quality services to community members.
POSITION DUTIES:
- Perform general maintenance including drywall repairs, cleaning, floor stripping and waxing, painting, basic plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry to prepare units for occupancy.
- Learn and assist with measuring, repairing, and replacing exterior components of housing units (e.g., roofing, eavestroughs, stair landings, windows, doors, and door locks).
- Carry out grounds maintenance as needed, including litter removal, weed control, and trimming of brush and trees.
- Assess homes for repair needs and report findings to the Department Manager. Notify the department when professional electrical or plumbing services are required.
- Complete routine maintenance and minor repairs as required.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle for work-related travel.
- Must be dependable and available to work flexible hours and days, as required.
- A criminal record check is required prior to employment.
- Subject to a six-month probationary period.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or a skilled trade.
- Skilled trade license, relevant post-secondary education, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of facility operations, maintenance, and safety protocols.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
