Role Description:
Arcadis is excited to be growing our Transportation Operations team. We are looking for an enthusiastic student for the Winter 2026 Co-op term to work with our team on a range of transportation projects including various traffic operations studies. Our team works on Traffic Impact Studies (TIS), Network Transportation Studies, Roadway Diet Studies, Corridor Signal Coordination Studies, as well as Parking Studies. You will be helping with conducting traffic analysis for public and private-sector clients throughout Ontario. You will be working closely with our team of analysts and engineers. Working within our Mobility Advisory department, you will help support our clients building new developments shaping the future of our cities as well as municipalities to better use our existing infrastructure; creating a more connected and sustainable world for the public at large.

Climate change, urbanization and digitization trends are requiring today’s mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the world’s growing population. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.
Role Accountabilities:
You will be supporting the team on projects related to transportation operations, including vehicle and pedestrian analysis, traffic forecasting, development scenario testing, site plan review, and traffic signal timing design. You will prepare reports and presentations, process traffic data, build traffic analysis models in Synchro, complete transportation analysis in the four-step model (trip generation, mode choice, trip distribution, trip assignment), and develop future alternatives/mitigation measures.
Additionally, you will also be exposed to transportation design related functions, including site plan reviews, vehicle maneuvering analysis (using AutoTURN), and design development. You will be reviewing and identifying design improvements for land development site plans with a focus on road configuration, site circulation, and road user safety, via drawing mark-ups in PDF or AutoCAD environments. Utilizing AutoCAD software, you will be developing functional designs, preliminary designs, and pavement and signage plans for private development applications and roadways.
As needed, you will liaise with respective disciplines within the Mobility Advisory Department, including Active Transportation, New Mobility, Public Transit, and more.
Qualifications & Experience:
First and foremost, you share our passion for improving the quality of life. You pride yourself for the part you play in transforming the world around you and understand the importance of teamwork. You are a technically capable with experience in transportation analysis projects and come to us with:
- Currently enrolled in the Civil Engineering program
- Completed 2-3 years of the program (e.g. completed at least 4 study terms)
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Able to work effectively independently and on a team
- Ability to communicate underlying assumptions in transportation analysis conventions and analysis software, through oral discussion and technical writing
- Previous analysis experience with Synchro and VISSIM is an asset
- Previous design experience with AutoCAD and/or AutoTurn is an asset
- Previous work experience with a Transportation Engineering Consulting company and/or Municipal Transportation Department is an asset
- Strong time management skills and the ability to perform in multiple ongoing project
The Transportation Operations team is made up of many talented individuals, geographically located throughout Ontario. Our 10-member team works effectively in a hybrid environment, with weekly team meetings to maintain strong teamwork.
To facilitate your learning and growth, you will be paired with a work buddy/mentor, be supported by your direct supervisor, and have the opportunity to collaborate with all members of the team (as time allows).
Our team is technically headquartered in the 55 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto, Arcadis office. Should you wish to work from the office based on your personal preference, you are free to do so.
