The office of a Member of Parliament for Scarborough-Agincourt is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Constituency Assistant / Receptionist position.
This role is integral to the smooth operation of our office and serves as the first point of contact for clients, visitors, and staff. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service. Given the fast-paced environment of our office, we are seeking a highly organized and personable individual to join our team.
In addition, fluency in Mandarin and Cantonese is preferred, as it enables us to better serve our diverse clientele and foster meaningful connections. Primary responsibilities:
- Ensuring that the office is accessible to constituents through regular hours of operation.
- Answer phone calls, emails, and other correspondence as directed in a courteous, efficient and timely manner.
- Provide Chinese communications and translation services as required.
- Provide excellent customer service to constituents and stakeholders.
- Entry of casework and phone calls into CRM database.
- Keep office areas tidy and organized, including reception area, common areas, and storage room.
- Attend community events as required.
- Assist with office events and outreach activities when required.
- Other duties as required for the day-to-day operations and special projects.
Salary: $35,000 – $40,000
Start date: As soon as possible
Qualifications:Education:
- Relevant post-secondary education or equivalency.
Skills and experience:
- Experience in a client service environment, notably experience demonstrating empathy, professionalism and discretion.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in English, Mandarin and/or Cantonese.
- Ability to work independently, strong time-management skills and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Strong computer skills including Internet, Windows, and social media.
- A valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
Assets:
- Experience in a receptionist or administrative support role.
- Previous experience in a political or not-for-profit organization service organization.
- Knowledge of Scarborough-Agincourt.
