Your opportunity:

The Office of the Faculty Registrar works closely with departments and colleges at the University of Toronto, concerning virtually all matters relating to Arts and Science students. Our department members are dedicated to aid all students to the greatest extent, to make their university experience as smooth and seamless as possible. We coordinate personal, financial,academic counselling, registration and enrolment, student records, transfer credit, petitions, finalexaminations, and graduation.

Reporting to the Associate Faculty Registrar & Director, Operations & Project Management, the incumbent will act as the first point of contact for payroll related enquiries for student employees, collect relevant documentation and ensures the accurate and timely processing of payroll and HRIS transactions. The incumber will also support student employee payroll and expense reimbursement processing and customer service.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing payroll records for processing
  • Processing payroll
  • Troubleshooting and resolving payroll discrepancies
  • Reconciling payroll distribution
  • Entering salary and/or personnel information in HRIS
  • Collecting supporting documentation required for payroll and/or HRIS processing
  • Verifying the accuracy and completeness of documents
  • Processing expense reimbursements

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years of recent and related payroll and financial experience in an academic environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with Financial Information Systems (FIS) and Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
  • Experience processing payroll and financial transactions.
  • Experience in reconciling payroll and generating reports.
  • Experience applying University's financial and HR rules, guidelines and procedures, as well as accounting principles.
  • Experience in effectively and clearly communicating financial information to staff and faculty.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, and solid organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Advanced computer skills, including MicroSoft Office.
  • Advanced written and verbal communications skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a superior customer service orientation and ability to deal tactfully
  • Excellent organizational skills to maintain accurate records and information system
