Your opportunity:

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the position provides technical and administrative lab support in a large research group that is based in Arts and Science but with deep connections to Engineering, Medicine, and beyond.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Constructing proof of concept experiments to test different elements of the process
  • Collecting experimental data, verifying results and passing on findings
  • Preparing draft statistical reports and summaries from data collected
  • Setting-up lab/workshop according to research and/or course schedules
  • Troubleshooting routine equipment repairs
  • Providing detailed explanations and demonstrating procedures to students and/or employees on lab techniques, experimental procedures and protocols
  • Serving as a technical resource on laboratory protocols, and experimental procedures and equipment

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science or Engineering, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum two years of recent and relevant experience providing technical and administrative lab support in the area of microfluidics, including but not limited to conducting experiments relying on microfluidics.
  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing instruments and recommending designs and optimization of instruments to run customized electrowetting-based digital microfluidic devices.
  • Experience with conducting experiments in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, cell biology, and computer programming, relying on microfluidics.
  • Experience working with members of the PI’s research group and collaborators to strategize about interfacing custom instrumentation to microfluidic devices.
  • Experience in preparing draft statistical reports and summaries generated from experiments relying on microfluidics.
  • Experience providing detailed explanations and demonstrating procedures to students and/or employees on microfluidic handling and analysis experiments.
  • Experience maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) and risk assessments that are required by EH&S

  • Skills/knowledge in instrument design, construction, and testing at the system and component level for digital microfluidic control systems
