Your opportunity:

Under the general direction of the Chair, the Graduate Program Assistant provides administrative and logistical support for the Graduate Programs at the Department of Classics.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Scheduling appointments for prospective students, applicants, and current students to address individual needs
  • Checking completeness of applications
  • Coordinating the recruitment of teaching assistants, course instructors, sessional lecturers and/or stipend instructors
  • Preparing draft employment letters using templates
  • Determining logistical details and activities for events and/or programming

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ relevant experience in a post-secondary environment providing detailed academic and other information to students and faculty
  • Experience updating, maintaining records and ensuring accuracy, including student records and marks
  • Experience drafting letters using templates with strong attention to details
  • Demonstrated advanced computer skills, including MS Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), databases, content management system or other website management system,and group scheduling software, such as sharepoint
  • Demonstrated experience with determining logistical details and activities for campus visits, events and /or programming
  • Demonstrated experience with generating cyclical reports
  • Demonstrated experience providing excellent customer service and sensitivity to the needs of students, academics, and staff
  • Experience maintaining information on graduate program website and digital platforms
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational and time-management skills
  • A strong student service orientation, and effective interpersonal skills to deal with students, staff, and faculty with professionalism and tact.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills.
