Reporting to the Director HR, Rogers Sports & Media, the Senior Labour Relations Specialist plays an instrumental role and is a key organizational leader responsible for shaping and executing labour relations strategies that align with business objectives and foster a fair, consistent, and legally compliant workplace culture. This role serves as a strategic advisor to the senior leadership and HR teams, providing expert guidance on complex labour and employee relations matters, and driving proactive initiatives that enhance organizational performance and labour stability. 

 

What you will be doing: 

  • Lead the development and execution of RSM -wide labour relations strategies in alignment with organizational goals. 
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and HR Business Partners on high-impact labour relations issues, risk mitigation, and change management. 
  • Influence and shape policy development, collective agreement frameworks, and workforce planning through a labour relations lens. 
  • Lead or co-lead collective bargaining strategy development and execution, including stakeholder alignment, data analysis, and negotiation planning. 
  • Represent the organization in bargaining sessions, arbitrations, and dispute resolution forums, ensuring strategic consistency and legal compliance. 
  • Oversee grievance and arbitration processes, ensuring timely resolution and alignment with organizational values and legal standards. 
  • Manage the administration of collective agreements including compensation cycles and seniority reviews. 
  • Monitor and analyze grievance trends, arbitration outcomes, and case law to inform strategic decision-making and continuous improvement. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with union representatives, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders to foster collaboration and trust. 
  • Design and deliver leadership training programs on labour relations, conflict resolution, and collective agreement interpretation. 
  • Analyze and track case law and emerging labour relations trends t to shape labour strategies and inform executive decision-making. 
  • Conduct comparative analysis of collective agreements, compensation structures, and market trends to support strategic planning. 
  • Ensure compliance with federal employment legislation and collective agreements across all business units. 
  • Proactively identify emerging risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect organizational interests. 

 

What you will bring: 

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Law, or a related discipline 
  • Proven success in leading collective bargaining and managing complex labour relations issues. 
  • Labour Experience in the Sports & Media industry is an asset  
  • Passion for Sports and Entertainment is an asset  
  • Collaborate with Rogers Labour and HR teams to drive broader organizational strategy 
  • Deep knowledge of federal employment legislation, dispute resolution mechanisms, and collective agreement frameworks. 
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, negotiation, and communication skills. 
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive organizational change. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a data-informed approach to strategy. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with high levels of autonomy. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
