An exciting opportunity awaits a senior leader who is passionate about driving the technical evolution of data platforms at TELUS. This individual will be critical in developing, sustaining, and elevating the enterprise data engineering, architecture, data tooling, metadata management, and quality platforms that underpin all TELUS businesses. These platforms are aimed to elevate, accelerate, and democratize data and analytics at scale across TELUS. 

 

Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Chief AI Officer of TELUS, you will lead a team of approximately 200 team members to develop efficient experimentation and productization platforms, implement AI and Data FinOps and technical excellence, and ensure the secure and privacy-adherent democratization of data access. 

 

You will play a pivotal role in prioritizing TELUS' success in leveraging AI technology, both today and at scale in the future. Collaboration with the VP of AI Business Enablement and the AI/Data Product Engineering teams will be crucial to the successful building and commercialization of AI solutions

 

What you'll do

 

  • Develop efficient experimentation and productization platforms for TELUS.
  • Implement AI and Data FinOps and technical excellence.
  • Oversee Customer and Business 360 data curation with APIs at scale feeding all critical business operations.
  • Shape the data universe and democratize access under secure and privacy-adherent frameworks.
  • Prioritize TELUS success in experimenting and productionizing AI technology today and its future at scale.
  • Develop and sustain core AI and data platforms for all TELUS businesses.

What you bring

  • A strategic and forward-thinking leader with a strong understanding of data platform technologies and their evolution.
  • Experienced in developing and implementing efficient data experimentation and productization platforms.
  • A champion of data governance, security, and privacy.
  • Skilled in fostering technical excellence and implementing FinOps principles for AI and data.
  • Adept at building and leading high-performing technical teams.
  • Passionate about enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. A MBA is an asset.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in leading and developing data platform teams and delivering scalable data solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing data warehousing, data lake, and data streaming solutions.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based data platforms and related technologies.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with data scientists, AI engineers, and business stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
