Provides project and communication management to support the coordination and oversight of end-to-end implementation of Global Risk Management initiatives on behalf of SVP & Head, Retail Credit Risk, by globally ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are supported in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Responsible for contributing to the centralized project management office to support global strategic priorities across Global Retail Reporting and Data Management. Acts as a liaison when required with both Internal/external stakeholders for global communications and messaging.
- Executes projects, including but not limited to: Board deliverables, OSFI requests, Investor Relations, System migrations etc. with a high level of complexity and uncertainty including managing project scope, navigating multiple and competing demands and priorities, as well as determining and conveying impact on timelines, budget and risks using appropriate metrics and assumptions
- Supports a prioritization framework to enable an effective intake process and management of resources to drive strategic focus across Global Retail Reporting and Data Management. Promotes innovative or improved methods to get the work done and implement project management best practices
- Supports in the management of communications for Projects and Change Management including status reports to Senior Risk Leaders & Executives, internal & business stakeholders, and project team including timely updates on project risk and issues.
- Accountable for the end-to-end projects assigned (including related sub-projects). Ensures end results are of the highest caliber with a clearly articulated scope and quantifiable business benefit
- Escalates issues and conflicts, removes project barriers, resolves issues and/ or escalates them to management and stakeholders when required. Facilitates and manages Working Group and Project team meetings.
- Document and maintain the knowledge Base for projects, technical frameworks, Audit closure initiatives, maintain the Confluence/SharePoint/JIRA repositories of issues/tasks to facilitate better co-ordination and communication across teams and to the stakeholders.
- Ensure timely engagement with relevant groups, e.g., regulatory, compliance, finance, operational risk, IT, as determined by implications of the change being introduced by the project. Facilitates Project Sponsor awareness of internal factors affecting organizational change that need to be planned for and managed.
- Promotes Scotiabank’s Retail credit risk management culture and staff, by sharing knowledge/experience and providing opportunities for staff to share responsibility for achieving business objectives/goals. Recruit high performing and high potential credit risk management candidates.
- Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk, as well as the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
- 5 - 7 years of project management and communications experience
- Solves complex project issues which may require facilitation of multiple senior resources
- Excellent relationship management resulting in a proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders, mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach, resolve conflict, deliver tough messages with grace, execute with limited information and ambiguity
- Exemplary project management skills including multiple aspects of the PMBOK (i.e., Project Management Institute's PM Body of Knowledge)
- Expert risk management skills
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, capable of balancing multiple perspectives, effective at all levels up to senior executive
- Sound business and technical acumen, with demonstrated agility in learning and ability to quickly become comfortable with unfamiliar businesses areas or of technologies. Ability to connect programs/projects to broader organizational goals and grasp the key performance drivers of business partners
- Expert presentation, written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to recognize and comprehend complex issues
- Solid knowledge and expertise in the use of program/project tools (e.g., MS Project, SharePoint repositories, PowerBI, Confluence, JIRA)
- Possesses a university degree and 7+ years relevant work experience.
- Holding a valid PMP designation from the Project Management Institute (PMI) or other valid program management certification is an asset
- Spanish language and international experience are an asset
