The Actuarial Intern will contribute to the overall success of the Insurance Canada Actuarial division, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s valuation, reporting and project requirements. The intern will ensure activities conducted comply with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

Support the monthly and quarterly valuation process

Complete reconciliation, testing and updating of IFRS17 models

Build and enhance automation and reconciliation tools using coding languages to streamline processes

Document modeling processes and assumptions with clarity and consistency

Collaborate across teams to uphold Scotiabank’s risk culture and operational standards

Contribute to a high-performance, inclusive team environment that values innovation and continuous improvement
Do you have the skills and requirements that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if:

You’re enrolled in a university program in Actuarial Science or a related field
-
Have completed actuarial exams with SOA/CIA
-
You have experience working with databases and manipulating data for analysis
-
You’re familiar with insurance product analysis, including lapse and mortality studies (an asset)

You have hands-on experience with Moody’s AXIS and Risk Integrity software (preferred)

You’re proficient in coding languages, with a strong preference for Visual Basic and Python
-
You have experience using analytics software such as Power BI (an asset)
-
You’re a strong communicator and collaborator, with a keen attention to detail and a passion for continuous learning
