The Senior Manager, Business Banking Forecasting & Analysis is part of the GBM Financial Planning & Analysis (GBM FP&A) team responsible for providing value-added analytical and strategic support related to Corporate and Investment Banking and Global Transaction Banking business lines (Business Banking) within GBM to senior management to facilitate achievement of GBM’s business objectives.

 

Reporting to the Director, the Senior Manager is responsible for analyzing monthly actuals, managing planning and forecasting activities for Business Banking and providing timely and reliable analysis and recommendations to senior executives to assist them in decision making. In addition, the Senior Manager provides support to the Business Banking management with reporting, analysis and responding to ad hoc requests.

 

Is this role right for you?  In this role, you will:

 

  • Prepare and update financial plans, forecasts, stress tests, and other forward-looking financial outlooks, including coordination with COO and regional finance teams in preparation of plan/forecast and updating Hyperion/other forecasting systems.
  • Identify issues and provide commentary related to financial results and/or forecasts.
  • Analyze monthly actual results and collaborate with Corporate Functions Finance, Product Control, FTP team and other cross functional teams to ensure integrity of actual financial results.
  • Participate in the preparation of reliable financial reports on a timely basis for use by GBM executives. This includes, but is not limited to, Quarterly Blue Book, Quarterly/Monthly Reporting package, Quarterly and Monthly Management meeting decks, ALCO presentations, Business line reporting and presentations and Weekly Dashboards.
  • Provide analysis, support and counsel to business line management related to balance sheet, income statement, planning and forecasting.
  • Work collaboratively with other stakeholders in GBM to access MIS data required to perform the duties of the position including data related to profitability and performance.
  • Support ad hoc requests from internal teams, Executive Management, auditors, regulators and other external parties as required.
  • Independently prepare and provide analytical support including analysis and data related to business line, product or geographies.
  • Contribute to an environment in which the team works together to produce tailored and value-added strategic analysis while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls.
     

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have experience with:

 

  • University degree in Finance, Economics or Business Administration, preferably CPA/CFA.
  • Minimum 5 years of financial reporting/planning & analysis experience in a banking environment, preferably GBM.
  • Understanding of GBM/Business Banking business line and Products will be an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial reporting and planning tools (EGL/OBI, Hyperion, Smartview).
  • Proficiency in MS office products especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent analytical skills including financial modelling.
  • Advanced presentation and communication skills and proven ability to provide insightful and influential analysis to Senior Management.
  • Ability to balance competing or conflicting goals of various departments/stakeholders, requiring a mature, diplomatic approach and highly developed negotiation and influencing skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to work in a team environment under tight deadlines and in some cases on special projects requiring innovative analysis and solutions.
  • Excellent relationship building and strategic influencing skills to manage stakeholders in the business line and front office.
