We are looking for a SecDevOps Lead to join our team to help us build and maintain the next gen Customer Authentication Services for Scotiabank. This is an exciting opportunity to start with us on a challenging journey to ensure the high availability and reliability of the current and future mission critical Digital Identity platforms for the bank.

 

As a Leader for Security Ops, you will be accountable for maintaining the production support, day-to-day operational activities for all environments, and DevOps processes for one of the largest, cutting-edge Digital Customer Identity and Access Management services in Canada.

 

You will lead and manage a highly skilled professional team of engineers to deliver high demand services like biometric (fingerprint/face-id) authentication, push notifications, password-less authentication among others. You will not only get the opportunity to grow and learn from experts in security and IAM domains, but also to mentor growing developers to enhance your leadership skills.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

  • Manage our operations and production support team; optimize their workflow, mentor your direct reports to maximize business and technical efficiencies.
  • Manage escalations and incidents, modify established procedures / approaches to suit specific situations including 24 x 7 support and coordination of recovery efforts.
  • Oversee and enhance current DevOps processes and practises.
  • Ensure all Scotiabank IT regulatory and compliance procedures are met.
  • Lead by example to develop operational plans and procedures to improve service delivery time-to-market and system reliability.
  • Measure and optimize system performance to push our capabilities forward.
  • Participate in defining SLIs, SLOs and SLAs for Enterprise Systems.
  • Partner with development teams to address outstanding production issues and rollout fixes.
  • Work with Scotiabank infrastructure teams to maintain and support infrastructure and services upgrades and software currency initiatives.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

  • You’ve been either an operations lead or manager or lead SRE in a large product team and seen how different software components of a complex architecture come together to deliver highly available and mission critical services for the business.
  • Experienced in building a highly automated production monitoring and support model, hands-on experience integrating Splunk, Ansible, Dynatrace, Sumologic, Service now, PagerDuty or equivalents.
  • Experienced in DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins etc.)
  • You have sound knowledge on networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, TLS, OSI Model), multi-tier applications, microservice architecture, cloud hosted software stacks, and proficient in one or more of these scripting languages - Ansible, Terraform, Bash etc.
  • Strong working experience with incident management and setting up monitoring alerts.
  • A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks. Be self-motivated, autonomous and a team player in a fast-paced environment.
  • You are an excellent communicator, planner and visioner, able to influence decision making across stakeholders. You can map and execute tactical and strategic plans for the team.
  • You have competency to lead team members with differing opinions and levels of experience.
  • You love what you do but you are seeking a more challenging environment.
  • Experience in Identify and Access Management (IAM) Domain.
  • Familiarity with IAM vendor products like Forge Rock, Ping Identify, Okta, Auth0 and likes.
