Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Scotiabank and its global subsidiaries by ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships,  systems and knowledge.
  • Support the team in the preparation of credit presentations for Financial Institution clients, including on-boarding new clients, annual reviews and other day-to-day credit related requests;
  • Analyzing financial information (leveraging resources such as Bloomberg, Morningstar, S&P Capital IQ, SEDAR, EDGAR, etc.), counterparty risk profile, and investment strategies
  • Working with Directors and Associate Directors on complex credit and transactions and provide support when necessary.
  • Track and monitor various credit metrics for the portfolio of GCM Banking clients
  • Coordinate with Global Risk Management, Credit Analytics Group, and/or other Banking execution teams to facilitate credit requests
  • Exposure to various aspects of the derivative, foreign exchange, commodity, fixed income and equity businesses of GBM
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Support GCM in meeting its target profitability metrics, including NIAT and RoRWA.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk ManagementFramework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Champions a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team


What You'll Bring:
 

  • Undergraduate level degree in business related field required
  • MBA or CFA designation an asset, but not required
  • Previous Banking experience preferred
  • A clearly defined interest in Global Capital Markets
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • High attention to detail required
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work
  • Demonstrated ability to excel under pressure amid demanding deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in a team environment
  • Solid technological acumen, specifically experience with database management, Excel, PowerPoint and other MS Office tools
  • Experience working with Bloomberg an asset


Work Arrangement: 
This position is currently an on-site role, with the expectation that you will work 5 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
