Purpose of the Job

The role of the Interface Specialist will be to identify, manage and resolve the technical interfaces within the GO Expansion project as it relates to Alstom's scope of work.  This position will primiarly focus on interfaces involving civil works.  This may include civil interfaces with the overhead catenary system, traction power facilities, cabling and cable containment. 

Responsibilities

  • Identify and define the system interfaces relevant to civil works and the Alstom internal stakeholders : interface matrix and interface register. 
  • Lead, contribute and manage the System Interface Control Documents (ICD), with external and internal stakeholders, to ultimetly come to an agreement of the ICD
  • Identify output requirements from the ICD applicable to Alstom subsystems
  • Ensure interface consistency and completeness by reviewing designs and actively participating in requirements management process
  • Actively manage interface related deliverables to ensure on time performance and KPI reporting
  • Manage the detailed interfaces definition relevant to Civil works
  • Identify risks, scope gaps and grey areas and escalate as needed
  • Be agile and adaptable as project scope and requirements change and as the design matures

Educational requirements

University Degree in Engineering or relevant railway/system engineering experience

Qualifications

Must meet at least one of the following:

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in System Engineering with a focus in Interface Management
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a railway engineering environment
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in either a civil engineering design position

Preference will be given to candidates with any of the following experience

  • Experience working in heavy rail and/or working with Metrolinx/GO Transit
  • Experience working with overhead catenary systems, traction power facilities, cabling/cable containment
  • Experience in interface management 

Other qualifications:

  • Fluent in English both verbal and writing
  • Knowledge of the rail construction environment and engineering practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication
  • Self motivated, detailed oriented ability to learn new techniques in a changing environment are desired
