The opportunity
As a Senior DevOps and Infrastructure Engineer, you will play an integral role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable, secure, and efficient infrastructure across Azure and AWS environments. With your expertise in container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and ML Ops, you will help drive automation, streamline deployment processes, and ensure robust security compliance throughout the software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and cloud platforms while demonstrating the ability to collaborate across development, operations, and data science teams to enable transformative business outcomes.
Your key responsibilities
- CI/CD Pipeline Management: Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps, ensuring integration of automated security and quality checks.
- Cloud Infrastructure Development: Develop and maintain scalable, secure cloud infrastructure on Azure and AWS using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.
- Kubernetes Management: Deploy, manage, and monitor Kubernetes clusters (AKS, EKS) to support containerized workloads, leveraging Helm charts for repeatable deployments.
- Containerization Standards: Implement and maintain containerization standards using Docker, focusing on security, scalability, and efficient resource utilization.
- Collaboration with ML and Data Engineering: Collaborate with ML and data engineering teams to enable ML Ops workflows, supporting reproducible model training, CI/CD for machine learning components, and automated deployment to production environments.
- Security Integration: Integrate and manage security tools and practices, such as container security scanning, secrets management, and compliance monitoring across cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
- Monitoring and Logging Solutions: Set up and configure monitoring and logging solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, CloudWatch) to ensure high availability, performance, and rapid incident response.
- Architectural Design Participation: Participate in architectural design sessions, providing input on DevOps best practices, scalability, and security for new solutions and enhancements.
- Automated Testing Support: Support automated testing frameworks and contribute to code quality initiatives through integration with platforms such as SonarQube or Checkmarx.
- Operational Automation: Develop scripts and automation to streamline routine operational tasks, reduce manual intervention, and improve team efficiency (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar).
- Documentation Maintenance: Maintain robust documentation for infrastructure, deployment processes, and operational procedures, ensuring transparency and knowledge sharing across teams.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment, and pipeline issues, liaising with developers, QA, and support teams as needed to resolve complex problems.
- Industry Trends and Innovations: Stay current on industry trends, cloud service updates, and DevOps tooling, proactively recommending improvements and innovations to the platform ecosystem.
Skills and attributes for success
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: 4-6 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, Infra Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Certification: Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Azure/AWS Architect, Kubernetes Administrator, Terraform Associate, etc.) are an asset.
- CI/CD Pipeline Management: Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and Azure DevOps, integrating security tools like AquaSec, Mend,
- Checkmarx, and SonarQube for enhanced DevSecOps practices.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain scalable and secure infrastructure deployment using IaC tools such as Terraform, ARM Templates, or Bicep.
- Container Management: Manage and optimize Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters, including deployments using Helm charts, and implement container security with AquaSec to ensure compliance with best practices.
- Security Integration: Integrate Mend into CI/CD pipelines to manage open-source dependencies and vulnerabilities, perform static application security testing (SAST) using Checkmarx, and enable secure code scanning.
- Code Quality Analysis: Set up and utilize SonarQube to analyze code quality, enforce coding standards, and maintain high software quality.
- Application Deployment: Use Docker or similar containerization technologies to package and deploy applications consistently across different environments, and deploy applications on cloud platforms
- (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) or on-premise servers, configuring web servers (Nginx, Apache) and managing domains and SSL certificates.
- Programming Skills: Basic proficiency in programming languages, particularly Python and .NET, for developing custom integrations and automating pipeline processes.
- Cloud Environment Knowledge: Strong understanding of cloud environments, specifically AWS and Azure, and their respective services to effectively manage and deploy applications in the cloud.
