The opportunity

 

The Accountant – Partnership Operations utilizes advanced knowledge to perform complex accounting activities, including reconciliation and analysis of financial information, preparation of journal entries, and review of financial controls in accordance with established policies, procedures, and statutory requirements. This role also prepares reports and analysis of financial information for the Executive team. In addition, this role may participate as a contributor on various large special projects, and as the owner of smaller projects and initiatives, as requested.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Perform various Partnership accounting activities including journal entries, payments, complex reconciliations, analysis of financial information, and ad-hoc research, often in collaboration with other teams
  • Identify and communicate process improvements, technology issues, internal control weaknesses, and accounting issues, and develop recommended solutions
  • Participate as a contributor on large special projects, and as the owner of smaller projects
  • Resolve confidential and general accounting issues with limited supervision, consistent with established policies and procedures
  • Respond to accounting requests and inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
  • Generate and provide accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, and other relevant documents
  • Establish and implement basic accounting procedures, and maintain organized filing systems
  • Perform various administrative duties and ad-hoc tasks for the Managers and Director
  • Continuous Development: May be required to attend seminars and various skill development courses that are relevant to their area of specialty

  • Thoroughly understand and apply the objectives of firm policies and procedures to guide decisions when analyzing accounting transactions and general ledger accounts
  • Demonstrate healthy skepticism when analyzing more complex accounting transactions
  • Challenge existing processes and approaches related to operational efficiency, effectiveness, internal controls, and customer service, and recommend viable solutions for improvement
  • Demonstrate knowledge of job-relevant issues, products, systems, and processes
  • Effectively prioritize own assignments, follow through on commitments, and take ownership for personal and team results
  • Ensure events and processes comply with laws, regulations, and standards
  • Leverage technology and effectively use systems and tools to generate reports, and provide stakeholders with data and analytical support to drive decision-making
  • Actively demonstrate confidentiality and discretion in preparing, disclosing, and handling information of a confidential and sensitive nature
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, work with little supervision, be self-motivated and demonstrate trustworthiness 
  • Flexibility and adaptability to manage different situations and ability to problem solve while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Exhibit a positive attitude and approach, willingly accept new challenges, and is flexible and accepting of change
  • Take initiative, is highly innovative, with a drive for creating processes
  • Maintain updated technical knowledge and apply it to the role

 

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Professional accounting designation, CPA
  • A minimum of 4 years of progressive financial accounting experience
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills, attention to detail, with high level of accuracy
  • Effective time management skills and flexibility to work with changing priorities, and the ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment
  • Strong computer literacy with highly advanced skills in Microsoft Office products, especially with Excel
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, and proficient at building relationships with multiple levels of stakeholders, both external and internal
  • Comply with all confidentiality policies of the Firm and applicable regulatory authorities

 

Ideally you will also have:

  • Partnership, personal, and corporate tax knowledge, and experience with their preparation
