Inpatient Mental Health Services:

As a member of the Inpatient Mental Health Nursing Team, you will work in a dynamic, recovery-oriented environment that supports individuals experiencing acute mental health challenges. Our units provide care for patients with a range of psychiatric diagnoses, including mood disorders, psychosis, and concurrent disorders.

You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver trauma-informed, person-centered care that promotes stabilization, safety, and recovery. Whether you are a new graduate or an experienced nurse, KHSC offers a comprehensive orientation and mentorship program to support your transition and professional growth in mental health nursing.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide holistic, evidence-based nursing care to individuals experiencing acute mental health crises.
  • Conduct mental status assessments, administer medications, and implement care plans in collaboration with the care team.
  • Support patients and families through education, advocacy, and therapeutic communication.
  • Contribute to a safe and respectful environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

 

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Eligible for registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in mental health nursing.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Satisfactory criminal reference check required.
