Ready for a glow-up? As a Payroll Operations Lead, you’ll drive the full spectrum of payroll operations for all our stores and corporate office employees nationwide. In this pivotal role, you’ll be the go-to expert, ensuring every step of the Canadian payroll process runs with accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Payroll Operations, North America, you’ll play a key role in shaping and elevating our payroll practices while supporting an incredible team of passionate employees across the country.


What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee the end-to-end payroll cycle, ensuring accurate and timely payment for all Canadian employees while proactively mitigating potential risks
  • Review and validate all payroll inputs, collaborating with the Senior Payroll Analyst for joint review
  • Conduct comprehensive audits with the Senior Payroll Analyst, reconcile payroll and timekeeping records, and resolve complex employee payroll issues
  • Support all year-end processing, including T4s and other statutory filings such as Workers' Compensation (WC) and Employer Health Tax (EHT), ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Ensure all payroll operations are in full compliance with federal and provincial laws, staying current with regulatory updates
  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine robust payroll validation rules, audit controls, and reconciliation processes, establishing and maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve payroll systems and processes for greater efficiency
  • Partner with the HRIS Business Partner to evaluate and optimize payroll tools and systems, driving business process transformation while maintaining strong quality controls and minimizing disruptions
  • Collaborate with key cross-functional teams, including HR, Finance, and Accounting, to define and anticipate evolving payroll requirements, proactively streamline workflows, and enhance interdepartmental alignment
  • Manage and lead communication with third-party vendors to ensure seamless service delivery

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in payroll operations
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required
  • PCP certification strongly preferred
  • Extensive hands-on experience with the Dayforce application is a plus
  • Direct experience with Payroll, Time and Attendance, and Human Resources Information Systems
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll taxes, calculations, and all statutory, legislative, and regulatory requirements
  • Proven ability to scale payroll functions and transform payroll operations for greater efficiency
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience with change management
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing effective solutions
  • Demonstrated success delivering results through influence and cross-functional collaboration
