We are seeking a dedicated Project Controls / Contracts Specialist to support our Underground Department. This position will be responsible for directly managing a unit rate contract for our primary underground development and production contractor.

The ideal candidate will have strong underground mining experience and the confidence to competently manage, interpret, and enforce contractual terms. You’ll play a key role in ensuring performance accountability through data, analysis, and a deep understanding of both the technical and commercial aspects of underground operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and administer the unit rate contract for underground development and production.
  • Monitor contractor performance and compliance with contract terms and scope.
  • Review and defend against contractor claims, leveraging hands-on underground experience.
  • Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of costs, quantities, and productivity.
  • Collaborate closely with the Underground Department and site leadership to provide consistent project controls and contractual oversight.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all contract terms, deliverables, and obligations.

Work Location & Schedule

  • Preferred: Local candidate able to work on a 5x2 or 5x2/4x3 schedule for consistent on-site support.
  • Camp accommodations provided.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5–10 years of relevant experience in project controls, contracts administration, or cost management within underground mining operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of unit rate contracts and cost control methodologies.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply contract terms, defend claims, and hold contractors accountable using factual data.
  • Underground experience in a mining setting.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in project controls systems, data analysis, and reporting tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
