Senior Manager, Product Risk Compliance

 

How does the role impact the organization?

Reporting to the Vice President, Supervising Portfolio Manager & CCO, RJIC, the Senior Manager, Product Risk Compliance plays a critical role in safeguarding the firm’s adherence to regulatory requirements and internal governance standards. This position is responsible for the oversight and management of product and security risk across the organization, ensuring robust compliance frameworks are in place and effectively executed.

What will your role be responsible for?

Product & Security Risk Oversight

  • Provide oversight and manage the product and security risk function, ensuring all associated responsibilities are executed in alignment with the firm’s product and security risk framework, regulatory standards and internal policies;
  • Manage and monitor security risk ratings, ensuring alignment with internal policies and frameworks;
  • Conduct and manage periodic adjustments, override reviews, and refinements to risk rating logic and breakpoints;
  • Provide compliance monitoring for exempt funds, non-brokered private placements, structured notes, broker warrants, and other products;
  • Maintain data feeds and onboarding processes for new products.; and
  • Conduct annual and ongoing risk assessments for Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs), Pooled Funds and other products;

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Communicate complex analyses and frameworks in a clear and actionable manner; and
  • Collaborate with Senior Management, Supervisors, Compliance Officers and Advisors to provide insights and recommendations on product oversight, suitability, and portfolio risk

Governance & Regulatory Compliance

  • Lead the development and maintenance of policies and procedures related to product and security risk;
  • Represent Compliance in various operating committees, oversight groups, and enhanced supervision meetings; and
  • Prepare and present oversight reports, meeting minutes, and compliance documentation

Audit & Examination Support

  • Manage responses to internal audits, regulatory exams, and compliance inquiries;
  • Conduct compliance risk assessments, testing, and monitoring activities; and
  • Support regulatory filings and contribute to strategic compliance initiatives and projects

Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise and mentor Compliance Officers, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to suitability assessment frameworks, portfolio oversight responsibilities and cross-functional collaboration

What do we expect from you?

To qualify for this opportunity you possess:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in product risk, compliance, or the securities industry;
  • Strong analytical skills and advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools;
  • Degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics or a related quantitative discipline or professional accreditation is considered an asset;
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences;
  • Proven interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and team-oriented mindset; and
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and deliver high-quality results under pressure
