JOB SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the licensed Registered Pharmacy Technician will assist with tasks within their full scope of practice to ensure smooth operations of the pharmacy.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assist the pharmacist in maintaining federal, provincial, and local laws, accrediting body standards, and Policies and Procedures (P&Ps) and practices to their full professional scope
· Assist the pharmacist in entering prescriptions into the prescription software (Kroll), and filling/billing such prescriptions
· Schedule patients for repeat medications
· Maintains pharmacy records including filing and documenting required information on dispensing records.
· Assist the pharmacist in preparing compounding sheets for the preparation of medication
· Assists the pharmacist in programming infusion pumps for medication delivery and preparing other devices
· Assist the pharmacists in the preparation and labeling of medications as allowed by law.
· Receive and transcribe verbal prescriptions as permitted by provincial pharmacy college regulations from prescribers ensuring prescription completeness; and provide prescription transfers
· Package and dispense prescription medications after a pharmacist has confirmed clinical appropriateness of therapy including:
o confirming accuracy, completeness and final check of compounded sterile products & prepared prescriptions prepared for release (i.e. correct patient, drug dosage form/route, dose, doctor, etc.)
o Perform a quality assessment on the prescription or compounded sterile product, including but not limited to the absence of particulate matter and container integrity
o Ensures prescriptions and/or compounding products are matched to the right delivery just prior to shipping
· Assists the pharmacist in maintaining accurate and appropriate inventory levels including reviewing expiry dates and proper stock rotation
· Follows established procedures for drug and supply procurement and maintains appropriate and accurate inventory levels and preferred product selection of drugs, solutions, and supplies
· Performs physical inventories and cycle counts according to (P&Ps)
· Understands the pharmacy operation which may require performing other duties as assigned.
· Report adverse events per Policies and Procedures
· Liaise collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to patient support program personnel, clinic and nursing staff, scheduling team
· Contributes to maintaining a clean and tidy work environment
· Understands the pharmacy operation which may require performing other duties as assigned
· Participates in Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance activities, education programs and department/branch meetings.

Education and Training
· Pharmacy Technician Certificate/Diploma from an accredited institution is required
· Licensed and in good standing with Provincial College of Pharmacist
Experience
· Experience in a busy community pharmacy setting or specialty pharmacy setting is preferred.
