Maintenance Technician I 1st Shift (WL)

Job Summary 

At Richelieu Foods we make Great Food from Great People. We are looking for a Maintenance Apprentice to provide support and solutions in our ever-changing food manufacturing environment.

 

 Essential Functions 

  • Assists Maintenance Technicians on repairs,  
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts. 
  • Makes necessary adjustments to functional parts of devices and control instruments, based on production requirements. 
  • Performs preventive maintenance on equipment based on schedule or immediate needs. 
  • Creates and enters work orders for necessary repairs. Allocate and documents hours worked on applicable work orders. 
  • Disassembles and assembles production equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts. 
  • Install, move and relocate machinery/equipment according to drawings. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.  

 

 Basic Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating wrappers and packaging equipment. 
  • Some Experience in maintenance or related fields can be beneficial, especially for those with some experience as maintenance technician. 
  • Basic knowledge of troubleshooting bearings, belts, sprockets, chains, and any other moving parts in the equipment. 
  • Ability to make recommendations on spare parts, lock-out-tag-out, and machine Guarding. 

 

Desired Qualifications 

 Knowledge using hand tools and power tools. 

  • Strong Mechanical Aptitude and knowledge of equipment functions. 

 

 Competencies 

 Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 

  • Ability to write routine reports and work orders using a tablet. 
  • Ability to follow directions. 

 

Work Environment  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to hot/cold environment, wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.  

   

Physical Demands  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.  

  

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work  

Five days’ workweek schedule, with one weekend day mandatory  

Occasionally 6 day workweek based on production demand

The following information is provided in accordance with certain state and local laws. Compensation depends on experience, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law. The expected compensation for this role is between $28.00 and $30.00. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive plan bonus, shift differential pay, overtime compensation. This position is based on our Wheeling, IL location.
