Job Description

Reports To:                        Maintenance Area Supervisor                

Duty Days:                         261 Days

Wage/Hour Status:           Non-Exempt                

Pay Grade:                         A05

Qualifications:

 

Texas Operator’s License

Possess knowledge and ability to perform in a variety of trades

3 Years’ Experience

Physically able to lift 50 pounds

Ability to follow instructions (written and oral)

Ability to interpret plans; show drawings and specifications

Ability to comprehend English (written and oral)

 

Primary Purpose:

 

Help maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Four Day Work Week (including weekends) with 10-hour shifts.
  2. Assume responsibility to make minor repairs of any nature in the facilities owned and operated by the district including electrical, plumbing, painting, fire alarms and/or general maintenance trades.
  3. Perform inspections, repairs or new work in addition to routine skilled maintenance duties within electrical, plumbing, painting, locksmith, fire systems and/or general maintenance trades.
  4. Plan out work daily and perform work independently as needed.
  5. Assist in emergency calls in regard to water leaks, power outages, door security issues and fire alarm troubles throughout the work shift.
  6. Recognize when a specialized trade is needed to solve problems.
  7. Examine district-owned facilities on a regular basis.
  8. Operate a variety of maintenance related equipment including power and hand tools and maintenance vehicles and/or lifts.
  9. Take all safety precautions related to all trades and reports to Maintenance Supervisor any hazardous situations.
  10. Efficiently use district work order program daily.
  11. Communicate effectively with campus staff, administration and other departments daily.

Power tools (drill, saw, etc.), hand tools, electrical tools, diagnostic tools, equipment, ladder, lift, etc.

 

Working Conditions:

 

Continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and odors. Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards. Work around moving objects or vehicles.
