The Role:
The Reliability and Maintenance Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime, improve OEE, and extend asset life. This role supports strategic planning for equipment replacement, modernization, and reliability improvements. The engineer will also provide hands-on troubleshooting support when needed, leveraging strong automation and electronics expertise. Additionally, the role includes supporting design reviews for new equipment from a reliability perspective and applying reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles to extend asset lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Preventive Predictive Maintenance: Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, including TPM practices, to ensure high equipment reliability and availability.
- OEE and Reliability Improvement: Drive initiatives to improve OEE by reducing unplanned downtime, optimizing maintenance schedules, and enhancing spare parts availability.
- Strategic Equipment Planning: Partner with Maintenance Manager and Operations to plan machine upgrades, replacements, and modernization projects, ensuring alignment with long-term business needs.
- Spare Parts Management: Collaborate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure critical spare parts are available, well-organized, and cost-optimized.
- Troubleshooting & Technical Support: Provide expertise in automation and electronics to support root cause analysis and corrective actions during machine breakdowns.
- PLC & Electronics Support: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair PLC, automation, and electronic systems, providing hands-on support to quickly restore equipment functionality and minimize downtime.
- Continuous Improvement (CI) / TPM Deployment: Champion TPM methodologies and other Lean maintenance tools across the plant, engaging cross-functional teams and driving a reliability-focused culture.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, compliance with safety/environmental regulations, and equipment history.
- KPI Monitoring: Track and analyze key performance indicators such as MTBF, MTTR, and OEE; apply Pareto analysis to prioritize improvement actions.
- Root Cause & Risk Analysis: Conduct structured root cause failure analysis (RCCA), FMEA, and risk assessments to prevent recurrence of issues.
- Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM): Implement and sustain RCM practices to optimize preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
Additional responsibilities:
- Lead long-term PM planning and analyze downtime trends
- Support capital projects with reliability input and ROI analysis
- Participate in strategic planning and annual budgeting
- Mentor technicians in PM, TPM, and troubleshooting best practices
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendor to improve reliability
Key Relationships:
External: Equipment suppliers, service providers, contractors
Internal: Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, CI/Lean teams
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering (or related discipline)
- Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in preventive maintenance, reliability engineering, or manufacturing maintenance
- Demonstrated track record of implementing TPM, predictive maintenance, and reliability improvement projects
- Preferred certifications: CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) or equivalent
- Experience with advanced CMMS platforms
- Hands-on knowledge of automation systems, PLCs, industrial electronics, and control systems
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; capable of partnering with operations, procurement, and engineering

The estimated hourly range for this position is $90K - $110K plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
