    Job Title: High School Architecture Teacher

    Position Summary

    The High School Architecture Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, hands-on instruction in architectural design, drafting, and construction concepts. This position prepares students for careers in architecture, engineering, and related fields by developing technical skills, design thinking, and industry knowledge aligned with Career and Technical Education (CTE) standards.

     


     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement a curriculum aligned with state CTE standards in architecture and construction pathways
    • Teach courses such as Architectural Design, Drafting (manual and CAD), and Principles of Construction
    • Provide instruction in industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp)
    • Guide students through design projects, portfolios, and real-world problem-solving activities
    • Integrate math, engineering, and sustainability concepts into lessons
    • Maintain a safe and organized classroom/lab environment
    • Assess student performance through projects, presentations, and exams
    • Support students in earning industry certifications (where applicable)
    • Collaborate with CTE staff, counselors, and administration to support student pathways
    • Establish partnerships with local industry professionals and postsecondary institutions
    • Sponsor or assist with student organizations (e.g., SkillsUSA)
    • Participate in professional development and stay current with industry trends

     


     

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or related field
    • Valid state teaching certification (or ability to obtain alternative certification)
    • Knowledge of architectural design principles and drafting techniques

    Preferred:

    • Industry experience in architecture, construction, or design
    • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, etc.)
    • Experience teaching or mentoring high school students
    • Familiarity with CTE programs and industry-based certifications

    Other Information: 

    The District contributes $330 monthly toward the cost of the employee-only health insurance, which is $105 more than the state-required amount of $225/month. All employees in this position receive free treatment at any Next Level Urgent Care.

    Salary: Teachers with "0" years' experience begin at $63,000
