Position Summary

Reports to: Transportation Coordinator

Location: 2820 W. Ina Rd, Tucson, AZ 85741

Hours: Up to 19.5 hours per week


Salary: $17.50 / hour


Eligibility: In order to be eligible to apply for this position, you MUST be eligible for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and be a current Pima Community College student. Students can complete the FAFSA at www.studentaid.gov.


About the Role: The Transportation Intern supports the Transportation Coordinator in delivering essential transportation services to seniors, individuals with disabilities, and other community members. This role helps ensure participants can access groceries, medical appointments, and other vital services, contributing directly to improved independence and quality of life.

Duties & Responsibilities


Participant Support & Service Coordination

  • Respond to transportation and shopping requests from participants

  • Answer phone calls and assist with scheduling services

  • Coordinate rides with volunteer drivers

  • Enter and maintain accurate participant and service data in databases

Volunteer Coordination & Compliance

  • Support onboarding and tracking of transportation volunteers

  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit and grant requirements (insurance, clearance cards, background checks)

Program Support

  • Assist in developing and updating program procedures and training materials

  • Support participant home re-evaluations and service follow-ups

  • Help identify service gaps and improve transportation processes

Community & Mission Engagement

  • Promote positive, respectful interactions with participants and volunteers

  • Support the broader Senior Services programs as needed

  • Assist with special projects or outreach activities

  • Participate in monthly ICS staff meetings and any required trainings for grant compliance

  • Assist with other projects assigned by the Volunteer Engagement Senior Coordinator

  • Perform other duties as assigned


Job Requirements/Qualifications


  • Strong communication skills, especially with seniors and individuals with disabilities

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

  • Ability to manage data entry and documentation accurately

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Must pass a background check

  • Must obtain and maintain a Level One fingerprint clearance card
