Job Description
Job Title: Elementary Teacher
Reports To: Building Principal
Job Goal
To provide high-quality instruction that supports the academic, social, and behavioral development of elementary students while aligning instruction with Washington State Learning Standards and district curriculum.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver effective instruction using a variety of teaching methods including lecture, demonstration, hands-on activities, and instructional technology.
- Implement district curriculum and follow Washington State Learning Standards and district instructional guidelines.
- Prepare grade-level objectives and unit outlines aligned to curriculum and instructional goals.
- Maintain high expectations for all students and adjust instruction to meet varying academic abilities and learning needs.
- Identify and implement effective teaching strategies while remaining informed of current educational research and best practices.
- Assign, collect, and evaluate homework, projects, and assessments.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, maintain assessment data, and communicate student progress with parents or guardians as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and required documentation.
- Establish and maintain a safe, positive, and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Maintain appropriate classroom discipline and report serious infractions to administration in accordance with district policies and procedures.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and other school-related responsibilities.
- Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration to support student learning and school improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal to support student and district needs.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of instructional principles, theories, methods, and strategies related to elementary education.
- Knowledge of the academic, social, and behavioral characteristics of elementary students.
- Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional goals and objectives, and current educational trends.
- Ability to effectively use instructional technology and educational resources to enhance student learning.
Qualifications
- Must hold a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate elementary endorsement.
- Must successfully pass a Washington State background check.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary and benefits are provided in accordance with the Grand Coulee Dam Education Association (GCDEA) Collective Bargaining Agreement. Compensation is based on the negotiated salary schedule and placement according to education and years of experience. Benefits include eligibility for state retirement (TRS), medical, dental, vision, and other insurance programs through the Washington School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB), as well as paid leave and other benefits as outlined in the GCDEA Collective Bargaining Agreement and district policies.
