Job Description

Objective of the Job:
The Account Representative will have the responsibility to lead or support whatever activities that are required to promote customer satisfaction with BRS’ delivery, quality, and pricing performance. The AR will have customer relationship and business development duties to support the growth of profitable Commercial business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Oversight of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality programs and “where applicable” ResponsibleSteel requirements; follow BRS directives and comply with regulatory requirements within scope of responsibility.
2) Develops detailed knowledge of customer requirements, markets/market language, indices, trends, and dynamics 3) Evaluates and interprets material specifications to confirm mill capabilities; challenges published mill limits on behalf of customer
4) Develops a basic understanding of grades, properties, and end uses
5) Researches and reviews information on competitors to identify and develop competitive advantage opportunities
6) Uses market, data, and cost analytics to proposes quotes to customer, for contract and spot opportunities, including base price, price extras, outside processing prices, and shipping costs
7) Perform business development activities and manages commercial relationships for assigned targeted OEMs, tier, and service centers
8) Utilizes supply chain management measures and tools to evaluate and optimize material on order levels and on-time delivery performance
9) Reviews and evaluates safety stock requirements in relation to production weekly or as needed
10) Provides guidance as needed to Inside Sales, for order entry and order tracking
11) Support the development of internal systems required to manage the Commercial business including blanket purchase order entry and invoicing, outside processing, status reporting, and forecasting.
12) Ability to reach across departmental boundaries to respond efficiently and consistently to customers’ inquiries on, but not limited to, pricing, order changes, quality concerns, and order delinquencies
13) Establishes and maintains good day-to day working relationships with customer and internal contacts
14) Evaluates root cause, determines alternative options including cost, and makes decision on what solution to offer customers for: shipping mode changes related to equipment issues, late production, over production, and weight referrals
15) Coordination and participation in internal and external meetings to assist in development of product and/or processes and procedures.
16) Performs back-up coverage for Insides Sales Representatives or Regional Sales Manager
17) Assists or leads continuous improvement projects
18) Any other tasks as needed
Qualifications:
1) Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related discipline
2) 5+ years of customer service/inside sales experience in steel or a related industry; or 3+ years’ experience as a high performing ISR III
3) Proficient use of the English language in reading, writing, and speaking
4) Proficient use of Microsoft Office products
5) Maintains temperament and composure in escalating and confidential situations
6) Ability to manage multiple tasks, to set priorities, and to meet deadlines
7) Strong organization and analytical skills
8) Self-managing; works well with little supervision
9) Ability to clearly communicate with internal and external parties regarding issues and changes
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Fast paced, high intensity office atmosphere. Occasional travel for customer visits is expected.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position may supervise others. Mentoring and developing Commercial talent is expected.
