Job Description

Job Summary



The Staff Accountant will assist in the comprehensive accounting functions of specialty chemicals and petrochemicals manufacturing assets. Duties include recording, reporting, analyzing, and communicating financial activity and results. The Staff Accountant will be expected to work under the supervision of the Vice President - Finance to become a financial and accounting expert in their area. This role requires versatility, resourcefulness, and a willingness to accept prominent work assignments.



Responsibilities




  • Handle the full-cycle accounting of chemical manufacturing business units, responsibility for generating the financial statements

  • Prepare monthly variance analysis and reporting packages for management

  • Coordinate and support activities across locations and departments

  • Manage multiple deadlines and respond quickly to management requests

  • Assist with monthly forecasting and annual budget preparation

  • Prepare and maintain detailed desk procedures for respective areas of responsibility

  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives, including accounting and business optimization projects

  • Ensure adherence to and effectiveness of internal control in responsibility

  • Facilitate internal and external audit needs



Requirements




  • CPA preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 2-3 years of progressive accounting experience

  • Knowledge of cost accounting principles, financial statement preparation, and analysis is required

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines, and perform meticulous self-review of work products for quality in a dynamic environment

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel

  • Knowledge of SAP, Chempax, Concur, and other ERP and software systems preferred
