Job Summary:
Seeking well rounded non-profit general ledger accountant to join a dynamic team and organization. With limited supervision, ability to use intermediate skills obtained through experience and training to provide timely, efficient, and high-quality accounting and financial reports. Regularly reviews the work of AP team members. Completes general ledger entries, monthly work papers, and supports with budgets and financial reporting. Proven ability to identify and recommend solutions to low-to-moderately complex problems. High attention to detail and deadline focused in a fast-paced environment. Regular and extensive contact with internal team members and other business units to meet objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Responsible for all general ledger account activity ensuring proper classification in accordance with GAAP, applicable federal regulations, and performance standards and agency contract requirements as appropriate.
· Prepares and posts monthly general ledger activity, reconciling to monthly prepared workpapers, and performs month-end close process ensuring timely resolution of outstanding issues.
· Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements and reports relating to financial performance.
· Assist in completion of variance analyses comparing to prior periods and budget.
· Monthly sales tax regulatory filing.
· Prepares supporting schedules for quarterly reviews and annual audits.
· Prepare regulatory reporting and review supporting documentation.
· May prepare and deliver written and oral presentations to management as needed.
· Remains current in non-profit accounting and GAAP accounting rules, regulations, policies and techniques as well as all grant provisions and contractual terms for programs as applicable.
· Assist in creation and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures.
· Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge of:
· Fundamental accounting concepts, practices, and procedures of general ledger management and work paper preparation for complete trial balance of accounts.
· Fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of monthly reporting.
· Non-profit accounting with strong knowledge in recording various revenue streams and reporting of federal and non-federal funding, including revenue releases.
· Payroll processing, recording and reporting preferred.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree preferred
· Minimum 5 years of professional level accounting experience in non-profit environment organization
· Advance working knowledge in Microsoft platforms required including SharePoint and must be highly proficient in Excel
· Experience with Sage Intaact preferred
