About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to support the financial operations of our growing logistics business. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting month-end close, and managing accounting processes in a high-volume freight environment.  The ideal candidate has experience in transportation or logistics accounting, strong knowledge of GAAP, and hands-on experience with revenue and cost recognition related to freight movements. Experience with Sage Intacct and transportation management systems (TMS) is highly preferred.


What You’ll Do

General Accounting

  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger in accordance with GAAP
  • Support financial statement preparation and variance analysis

Revenue & Cost Recognition

  • Apply over-time revenue recognition principles for freight movements from dispatch through delivery
  • Accrue revenue for delivered but unbilled shipments
  • Accrue carrier costs for loads moved but not yet invoiced
  • Ensure accurate matching of revenue and expenses by load and reporting period
  • Reconcile operational TMS data to financial records

Accounts Receivable & Payable Support

  • Monitor AR aging and assist with collections and discrepancy resolution
  • Review carrier invoices against contracted rates and shipment details
  • Investigate and resolve billing and cost discrepancies

Freight & Operations Analysis

  • Partner with operations and pricing teams to validate:
    • Load-level profitability
    • Accessorial charges
    • Fuel surcharge calculations
  • Analyze gross margin performance by customer, lane, and mode (Intermodal, FTL, and LTL)

Reconciliations & Reporting

  • Perform monthly reconciliations for:
    • Bank accounts
    • AR/AP subledgers
    • Prepaid expenses
  • Assist with internal management reporting, including:
    • Borrowing base and bank reporting
    • Gross margin analysis
    • Revenue per load metrics
    • Cost trend analysis

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Utilize Sage Intacct for transaction processing and financial reporting
  • Maintain data integrity between accounting and transportation systems
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and reporting accuracy
  • Assist with annual audit coordination and external reporting requests


What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 3–7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in transportation, logistics, or a high-volume operational environment
  • Experience with Sage Intacct strongly preferred
  • Understanding of intermodal, truckload (FTL), and LTL operations is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accrual-based accounting
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • High attention to detail with strong communication and collaboration skills
