About the Department

The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the veteran population of Louisiana by providing medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning the veterans to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Accountant Manager/ CFO to serve as chief financial officer for the agency including responsibility for developing and monitoring the operating and ancillary budgets.
Position Duties
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus four years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus four years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics plus four years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license plus two years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

The Accountant Manager 1 (CFO):
- Responsible for directing the accounting and fund management activities for Louisiana Veterans Home.
- Direct the operations of the fiscal department including cash management, appropriations and budget management.
- Direct the preparation of complex financial reports including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
- Provide periodic reports of the unit's performance and fiscal projects.

Compensation: The pay rate for this position is based on the credentials of the applicant and applicants are strongly encouraged to enter all relevant job experience on the application prior to submission.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00A - 4:30P.
Location: This position is located in the Fiscal/Accounting department at the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Home in Monroe, LA.
