Job Description

Mary Health of the Sick is a 59-bed nonprofit Catholic Skilled Nursing Facility dedicated to providing compassionate, person-centered care to our residents. Our mission-driven organization offers a supportive and collaborative work environment committed to excellence in long-term care.

Position Summary

Mary Health of the Sick is seeking an experienced Accountant with a strong background in skilled nursing facility accounting and a thorough understanding of long-term care regulatory and reimbursement requirements.

This position works closely with Administration, the Business Office Manager, Payroll, and Accounts Payable staff to ensure the facility's financial operations remain accurate, compliant, and efficient.

  • Qualifications

    • Minimum five (5) years of accounting experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) required.

    • Knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal, Managed Care, private pay billing, and reimbursement processes.

    • Experience with long-term care cost reports, audits, and census reconciliation preferred.

    • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

    • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with interdisciplinary teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.

  • Monitor and reconcile Accounts Receivable activities, including Medicare, Medi-Cal, Managed Care, and private pay collections.

  • Assist with oversight and reconciliation of Accounts Payable transactions.

  • Reconcile census, billing, cash receipts, and bank accounts.

  • Prepare and assist with annual cost reports, financial audits, and supporting documentation.

  • Monitor reimbursement trends and contractual allowances.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and long-term care regulations.

  • Provide financial reports and analysis to Administration as requested.

  • Collaborate with the Business Office Manager, Payroll, and department managers to support efficient financial operations.
