About the Department

Marana is one of the fastest growing communities in Southern Arizona, located approximately 20 minutes northwest of downtown Tucson and 75 minutes southeast of Phoenix. Position Duties

The Town of Marana is seeking an Accountant to work in the Finance Department. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in providing meaningful work that has a real impact in our community. Salary ranges effective 07/11/2026:

Expected Hiring Range: $25.53 - $31.27/Hour

  • Placement within the salary range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget.

Salary Range: $25.52 - $37.01/Hour

Minimum Qualifications

•Assists in maintaining the general ledger including the preparation of journal entries; assists with the financial audits.
•Reconciles balance sheet accounts, including accounts receivable for various grants and CIP projects; prepares periodic reimbursement requests.
•Prepares reports, such as unclaimed property and financial surveys.
•Provides support by assisting on various projects and answering general accounting inquiries as needed, including tax related questions.

Other Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Over one year of experience in accounting/finance.
  • Must complete the Town of Marana Background check.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration or closely related field. 
  • Governmental accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in Access.
