Accounting Assistant (Full Time)

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
- Overall responsibility for performing the duties required in the Accounts Payable system for the processing of weekly, monthly invoices and check requests.
SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Accounting Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Organizes and performs accounts payable activities, which include coding and payment of all accounts payable invoices, check requests, and travel requests.
- Communicates appropriately with vendors, managers, and employees.
- Performs the duties required in the Accounts Payable system.
- Processing of weekly, monthly invoices.
- Processing of weekly, monthly check request.
- Open, stamp, sort and distribute mail.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED; some college preferred.
- Minimum one year in the bookkeeping field or accounting office.
- One year experience in accounts payable.
- Basic computer skill; Basic mathematical skill.
- Ability to define and solve problems individually.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Remaining in a stationary position, often sitting for prolonged periods.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Work is primarily sedentary in an office setting located off-site. Office hours are Monday through Friday during the day. May be required to work off shifts as needed, on weekends, or on holidays based on projects.
