About the Department
Under general supervision is responsible for accounting transactions that may involve any division within or assigned to the Finance Department. Compiles data from various sources and supporting documents to verify accuracy of the transaction as well as processing the various transactions in an efficient and effective manner. Performs other activities such as maintaining files, reconciling statements, talking with customers, and assisting with other divisional tasks, etc.

Minimum Qualifications
Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines, which includes a computer, calculator, copier, mail machine, binder, etc. Must be able to exert up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for periods of time. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of ten to fifty five pounds.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Processes transactions that are associated with the division of assignment and assures that all daily workflow is accurate and properly processed.
Performs duties associated with the bi-weekly payroll process.
Prepares deposits from transactions of various departments.
Communicates with outside vendors, customers, citizens and visitors whenever necessary.
Creates necessary accounting packets that will be processed daily to the general ledger.
Maintains accounting files either physically, electronically or both.
May assist the Finance Department in the budget process.
Prepares and balances monthly registers and reports associated with the division of assignment.
Verifies various accounting information that is maintained in the City software associated with the division of assignment.
Reconciles outside reports that may be associated with daily workflow.
Prepares annual reports that are required by outside agencies and other governmental units.
May be assigned other accounting functions within the department that may not necessarily be associated with the division of assignment during times of emergency.
Operates a variety of equipment in the performance of activities including a calculator, computer, printer, copier, binder, postage meter, etc.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assists with other activities such as answering phones, substituting for other departmental personnel, accounts payable, proofreading, keypunching, copying, filing, ordering checks and miscellaneous office supplies, taking mail to the Post Office, etc.
Performs other related duties as required.
All employees of the municipality shall learn the emergency operations procedures for their respective department and position and execute these duties fully during times of emergency. This may or may not include assignment to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

General Employees* are enrolled in a 401(a) account upon hire. The account is funded by contributions made by the employee and the City.

Supplemental Retirement457 PlanDesigned for full-time employees to save and invest money with tax benefits. Contributions are made to an account based on the amount the employee chooses to allocate. Key features of the plan include:
• Flexible withdrawal upon separation from employment
• Withdrawals after age 59 1/2 or due to a qualified unforeseeable emergency
• For general employees*, the City will match contributions up to 6% of salary after 2 years of full-time employment.
Roth IRA
• Available for employees to complement other retirement plans by allowing for tax-free earnings and, if needed, flexible withdrawals.
