What You’ll Do


IronArch Technology is a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager / Controller to own the day-to-day accounting operations of our government services firm. This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, managing the monthly close cycle, and ensuring FAR and DCAA compliance. The ideal candidate brings deep government contract accounting expertise and thrives in a lean, fast-paced environment where accuracy and ownership are paramount.


Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Close

  • Own and manage the general ledger on a day-to-day basis, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries and accruals.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
  • Process and manage full-cycle payroll using Unanet and Paylocity, ensuring accurate and timely employee payments, proper labor allocations, and compliance with applicable payroll regulations.
  • Manage year-end 1099 preparation and distribution, ensuring accuracy and timely filing in compliance with IRS requirements.
  • Assist with the annual financial statement audit or review, serving as a key point of contact for auditors and preparing supporting schedules and documentation.
  • Support year-end tax preparation in coordination with the company’s external tax partner, providing requested data and reconciliations in a timely manner.


Billing, Revenue & Cash Flow

  • Oversee billing operations for cost-plus, T&M, and fixed-price government contracts.
  • Ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP and contract terms.
  • Monitor unbilled receivables, contract funding limits, and billing milestones.
  • Actively manage cash flow by tracking billing cycles and collections performance.


Systems & Internal Controls

  • Serve as the primary owner and day-to-day administrator of the Unanet ERP system, including contracts, rates, labor categories, and reporting configurations.
  • Design and maintain internal controls appropriate for a lean accounting environment.
  • Document, refine, and improve accounting processes and compliance procedures.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and ensure data integrity across all accounting modules.


Team & Cross-Functional Support

  • Partner with operations, contracts, and HR teams to support program accounting needs.
  • Provide financial data and reporting to leadership as needed.
  • Support budgeting, financial modeling, and forecasting activities in collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Partner with the Director of Finance and other stakeholders on process improvement initiatives and strategic projects, contributing operational accounting insight to drive efficiency and scalability.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a government contracting environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP, FAR Part 31, and DCAA compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience managing a general ledger, leading close processes, and preparing financial statements.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Unanet ERP (GL, billing, reporting, and rate structures).

 
Preferred Experience 

  • Experience in a $10M–$50M government services firm.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff.
  • Experience supporting organizational growth or scaling finance operations.

Salary Description
$150,000 -$175,000
