JOB PURPOSE AND FUNCTION

The primary purpose of the Life Enrichment Director position is to develop, lead, and oversee a comprehensive Life Enrichment Program that enhances the physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and cognitive well-being of all residents. The Life Enrichment Director is responsible for the planning, organization, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of daily, weekly, monthly, and special event programming while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations.

The Life Enrichment Director provides leadership to the Life Enrichment team by fostering a culture of compassion, creativity, resident-centered care, and excellence. This position oversees departmental operations, staff development, budgeting, documentation, volunteer services, and community partnerships to ensure meaningful engagement opportunities are available to every resident while promoting their highest level of independence and quality of life.


REQUIREMENTS

• Kansas C.N.A certificate preferred

• Clean driving record

• Experience with activities in Long Term Care or NCCAP certificate (National Certification Council for Activity Professionals)


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Demonstrates flexibility to meet the changing needs of residents and the organization while ensuring continuity of care.

• Supports and exemplifies Villa's Mission and Values of Faith, Integrity, Excellence, Compassionate Service, and Respect.

• Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal, and annual Life Enrichment programming.

• Supervises, mentors, schedules, and evaluates Life Enrichment Coordinators, Assistants, and volunteers.

• Ensures restorative and therapeutic programming is implemented consistently throughout assigned neighborhoods.

• Develops individualized programming that accommodates residents with cognitive, physical, hearing, vision, and other functional limitations.

• Completes resident assessments and develops individualized activity preferences and care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

• Ensures all required documentation, participation records, assessments, progress notes, and care plan updates are completed accurately and on time.

• Monitors resident participation and program effectiveness, making adjustments based on resident interests, abilities, and feedback.

• Oversees department scheduling to ensure appropriate staffing coverage for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

• Develops and manages the departmental budget while maintaining fiscal responsibility and cost-effective use of resources.

• Orders, inventories, and maintains supplies, equipment, decorations, and program materials within budget guidelines.

• Coordinates community outings, entertainment, special events, holiday celebrations, and intergenerational programming.

• Develops partnerships with community organizations, schools, churches, entertainers, and volunteers to enhance resident programming.

• Recruits, trains, schedules, and recognizes volunteers.

• Ensures all activities and outings are conducted in accordance with safety standards and infection prevention practices.

• Maintains department compliance with all federal, state, local, and organizational regulations regarding Life Enrichment services.

• Participates in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives and implements action plans as needed.

• Attends leadership meetings, care conferences, and interdisciplinary team meetings while providing updates regarding resident engagement and programming.

• Assists with new employee orientation and ongoing staff education related to resident engagement and person-centered programming.

• Maintains a welcoming, organized, and safe activity environment for residents, families, and visitors.

• Encourages family involvement and participation in resident-centered activities.

• Responds professionally and compassionately to resident and family concerns regarding Life Enrichment services.

• Ensures all departmental policies and procedures are followed.

• Performs other duties as assigned by their supervisor.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS (WITH OR WITHOUT THE AID OF MECHANICAL DEVICES)

• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach, stretch, and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

• Must be able to transport supplies, equipment, and assist with activity setup and cleanup.

• Must be able to accompany residents on outings and participate in activity programming as needed.

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

• Must possess the ability to communicate effectively and deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, physicians, volunteers, government agencies, and personnel.

• Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetic devices that enable these senses to function adequately to perform the essential duties of the position.

• Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability, sound judgment, and leadership under pressure.

• Must possess the ability to organize multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and lead a fast-paced department while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
