ABOUT THE ROLE
School of Heath and Behavioral Sciences
Adjunct Faculty – Doctor of Social Work (DSW) Program
Position Overview:
This is a fully remote position that requires adherence to course deadlines and institutional policies. Adjunct faculty teaching in the DSW program must be able to build and maintain relationships with doctoral students, faculty, and staff. They should coach, guide, and support students throughout their doctoral journeys. They must be available for and prepared to facilitate and teach four scheduled 90 minute synchronous meetings per course per session and must provide substantive, timely feedback on assignments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching duties, mentoring, or supervising students.
- Facilitating required synchronous class meetings.
- Delivering course content, engaging with students in discussion boards and groupwork, and grading and providing detailed feedback on assignments.
- Collaborating with faculty or staff within the social work department including timely response to department emails.
- Utilizing specific technologies or tools (e.g., LMS, Zoom, Teams, OneDrive).
- Attending required meetings, training, or development sessions.
Required Qualifications:
- Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a CSWE-accredited program and at least two years of post-MSW practice experience in social work.
- Doctor of Social Work (DSW) or Ph.D. degree in social work or a related field/discipline
Preferred Qualifications:
- Online teaching experience in both synchronous and asynchronous courses (1 year or more)
- Experience teaching and mentoring doctoral students (1 year or more)
- Leadership experience to reflect the DSW program’s focus area on innovative leadership
- Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education and teaching
- Experience teaching in the following areas: leadership, research methods, clinical and program evaluation, clinical social work, teaching, social and global entrepreneurship, and Capstone coursework
Work Environment:
A remote adjunct work environment is a flexible, virtual setting where instructors deliver course content, engage with students, and fulfill academic responsibilities from a remote location. This environment typically relies on digital communication tools, learning management systems (LMS), and virtual collaboration platforms to facilitate teaching and interaction.
Compensation:
The following salary range reflects compensation paid for a 3-unit course (101.25 hours) and varies based on the faculty member’s course assignment: 3-unit Lecture Course: The hiring range for this position is $3456.00 to $3856.00.
Offers are determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to; geographical location, knowledge, skills, and experience.
