Job Description

About the Department

  • Under the direct supervision of the administrative assistant, this position will be assigned as the switchboard operator.
  • Responsible for answering the institutional switchboard and routing the calls to the appropriate personnel/department.
  • Develop and maintain a filing system for incident reports.
  • Coordinates and schedule attorney visits to the institution.
  • Responsible for retrieving, assigning tracking numbers and entering inmate grievances into the Mainframe.
  • Perform administrative duties for other areas as required by the Warden or Administrative Assistant.
  • This position will also serve as the receptionist for the Warden's Area.
 Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Training upon hire.

Position Duties

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements: 

A high school diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma.


SCDC Minimum Requirements:  

  • A high school diploma and related clerical experience.                       

Minimum Qualifications

  • An associate degree in secretarial science or a related field.
OR
  • Two (2) years of clerical experience.
