OVERVIEW:


TITLE: Administrative Assistant


LOCATION(S): Split Duties between McLees Elementary and Midway Elementary


STATUS/FLSA: Full-time / Exempt


PAY SCHEDULE/GROUP: Building Level Admin / Group 1 (adjust downward for 190 day contract)


DIRECT REPORTS: Full-time (0); Part-time (0)


SUPERVISOR: Principals of both sites


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 190 Days. Salary determined by schedule set by the Board (schedule adjusted downward due to days).


EVALUATION: Evaluated annually by the supervising principals.


  


QUALIFICATIONS: 



  • Valid South Carolina teaching certification with at least three years successful teaching experience; Special Education experience, preferred

  • Master’s degree (concentration in school administration) with School Principal - Tier 1 certification 

  • ADEPT –SC Teaching Standards 4.0 trained

  • Demonstrated instructional leadership

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and relate to other individuals

  • Effective oral and written communication skills


JOB GOAL: To assist in the management of the school through leadership, supervision, administrative and professional skills, so as to promote the maximum educational development of each student. Additionally, this position works closely with special education teachers, school administrators, related service providers, parents, and district staff to ensure compliance with special education procedures and to support the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success of students receiving special education services.


 


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Assists in providing leadership in determining the educational needs of the students.

  • Assists in the establishment and implementation of goals, objectives, and strategies to promote improvement in achievement, test scores, attendance, school climate, discipline, parental and community support.



  • Assist with the daily operations and coordination of special education services within the school.






  • Support teachers in self-contained special education classrooms by helping implement instructional and behavioral strategies.


    Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with federal, state, and district guidelines.






  • Serve as the LEA representative during IEP meetings and related special education meetings as assigned.






  • Ensure meetings are conducted in compliance with IDEA, district policies, and procedural safeguards.






  • Collaborate with administrators, teachers, psychologists, related service providers, and parents to develop and implement appropriate educational plans for students.






  • Communicate regularly with families regarding meetings, services, student progress, behavioral concerns, and school events.






  • Assist parents in understanding special education procedures, supports, and available resources.






  • Provide behavioral support to students in self-contained and inclusive settings as needed.






  • Assist with the implementation of behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and positive behavior supports.






  • Support teachers and administrators in responding to behavioral incidents and documenting interventions.






  • Help create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment for students with behavioral and emotional needs.




  • Assists in planning professional development and participates in professional development.

  • Coordinates substitute teacher placement/class coverage, as needed.

  • Assists in providing supervision of students while on campus and at extra-curricular activities.

  • Participates in, coordinates, and conducts activities that contribute to the effective operation of the school. 

  • Pursues continuous professional growth.

  • Participates in staff development programs.

  • Participates in the intervention team process and/or school support team.

  • Follows policies established by the Anderson School District Five Board of Trustees.

  • Performs other duties as directed.
