Position Summary: 

Reports to the Health Services Administrator. Responsible for performing clerical duties related to health services, including appointment scheduling a variety of clerical and administrative duties which require extreme discretion in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC), and Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) directives. 

Essential Functions: 

1. Type correspondence, reports and letters. Proofread material to verify accuracy. 

2. Maintain appropriate medical and dental supplies as well as office supplies. 

3. Log and distribute incoming mail, prepare outgoing mail, answer telephone and convey messages. 

4. Schedule appointments for physician, dentist and mental health specialist. 

5. Maintain log for medical restrictions. 

6. Maintain patient records and files; observe applicable HIPAA laws. 

7. Check medical equipment and purchasing as per requirements. 

8. Respond to queries of providers for inmate patient needs. 

9. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and reporting to the health services administrator when inappropriate behaviors are observed. 

10. Maintain accountability of inmates and property while in the medical unit, while adhering to safety practices. 

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management. 

Education and Experience Requirements: 

High school diploma or equivalent and one year varied and responsible clerical experience required. Academic training in medical technology preferred. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management. 

Post Hire Requirements: 

Must attain and maintain appropriate facility security clearance. Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
