Job Description

Roanoke County Public Schools is seeking applications from individuals interested in an Administrative Assistant position in the Warehouse  beginning July 1, 2026.  This is a full-time position, 260 day contract, 8 hours per day eligible for benefits and is on the RCPS Pay Plan Grade 112.

Interviews will begin immediately and the position will remain open until filled.

Position Description/Job Summary:

The Administrative Assistant for the Warehouse is responsible for providing a variety of administrative and office support services to the Warehouse Supervisor to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the warehouse. This position assists with clerical and administrative functions, prepares and maintains budget spreadsheets, generates reports as needed, and supports daily warehouse operations. The Administrative Assistant also assists the Warehouse Supervisor with special projects and assignments as required.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:

· Perform walkthrough inspections of RCPS facilities to ensure quality and cleanliness of offices, restrooms, common areas and identify areas that need improvement

· Conducts scheduled and unscheduled inspections, maintaining supportive documentation of compliance

· Record inspection results in a detailed report, including photographs and any corrective action recommended.

· Check inventory levels of cleaning supplies and all warehouse equipment in warehouse and schools

· Utilizes technology and mobile devices for digital reporting

· Work with all vendors to ensure quality and requirement of goods

· Assist warehouse supervisor and warehouse foreman on assignment as needed

· Provides support when needed to the part-time administrative assistant in the warehouse

· Performs other essential functions and responsibilities of the job as outlined by the supervisor or foreman

· Displays knowledge of proper use of equipment associated with custodial and warehouse related needs

· Demonstrates courteous, professional telephone procedures

· Creates a pleasant and professional atmosphere

· Completes assigned tasks on time and accurately

· Display positive and appropriate conduct with staff and community always

· Remains current in skills necessary for assignments, including technology

Minimum Job Requirements/Qualifications:

Thorough knowledge of standard office and warehouse practices, and procedures. Knowledge of business practice and office equipment, possess some knowledge of warehouse/custodial operations, office assistance techniques; ability to work under pressure; ability to organize and perform work independently; ability to lay out and type forms, graph and spreadsheets; ability to operate personal computers and other standard office equipment; ability to assist with other clerical staff.

Education and Experience:

· High School Diploma or GED equivalent

· 1-2 years in business management, preferred

· 3-5 years in custodial knowledge, preferred
