EC/ES Administrative Assistant

Full-time / 12 month employee


Washington Episcopal School is accepting applications for a full-time Administrative Assistant to the Early Childhood and Elementary Directors.


Washington Episcopal School (WES) in Bethesda, MD is an independent, co-educational school for students from Pre-Kindergarten 3 through Grade 8. Job Responsibilities 

  • Provides administrative assistance to the Early Childhood and Elementary Directors, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and handling correspondence. 

  • Generates reports and documentation related to division activities. 

  • Ensures effective communication between divisions and other school departments.  

  • Facilitates ordering of classroom materials and division supplies through approved vendors for Early Childhood and Elementary Directors and faculty.

  • Supports the Early Childhood and Elementary Directors by keeping record of divisional ordering and expenses.  

  • Handles scheduling of substitutes for Early Childhood and Elementary teachers, both anticipated absences and last minute needs.

  • Supports Front Office team as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Possesses a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • At least five years of administrative experience, ideally in a school setting.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to excellent service.

  • Finds joy in working in schools.

  • Demonstrates cultural competency and skills engaging with and learning from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

  • Approaches work with energy, kindness, maturity, curiosity, flexibility, and a sense of humor.

  • Regards collaboration as an essential component of professional growth and values working on a team.

  • Proficiency with general technology skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace, and the ability to learn new platforms with ease. 

  • Demonstrates ability to work effectively in a diverse community and a commitment to inclusive, equitable practices.

  • Have or can obtain a Certified Medication Technician certification for the state of Maryland
