Job Description

Summary of Essential Functions

  • This individual will provide application system support and be responsible for collaborating with systems business/clinical personnel and serve as technical resources to identify, analyze, prioritize, and resolve system needs; use cases, workflow, and metrics to configure, maintain and monitor system use.
  • Provide suggestions for potential application modifications, enhancements or business process changes as appropriate.
  • This position requires extensive knowledge of operational processes and workflows common in the healthcare setting in addition to advanced computer skills.
  • This individual must have broad knowledge of application integration and data flow, as well as extensive experience in the support of EMR, healthcare and/or business applications.

 

Educational Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • University degree in Healthcare, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related subject preferred, not required. Work experience may be considered as substitute for degree
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

 

Licensure and Certifications

  • Must obtain and keep current all certifications required to support assigned applications

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Experience in healthcare, business or operation setting or functional and/or systems analysis and reporting experience.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide comprehensive support for systems/applications.
  • Extensive knowledge of health care operations, regulatory requirements, and the application of information technology to aid and improve health care functions.
  • Skilled in communicating positively with end users, other analysts, management, and customers.
  • Experience managing projects with proven ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts, maintain issues lists and manage a project plan to completion.
  • Demonstrates exceptional ability to research, analyze and thoroughly understand workflows of end users, and use this knowledge to configure systems which improve processes and add efficiencies.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily works the day shift tour of duty; may be asked to work additional hours as needed, including weekends.
  • Will be required to take rotating call to support the applications
  • May be expected to lift over twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • Ability to distinguish between numbers and symbols.
  • Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity with substantial movement of wrist and/or fingers. Walking and climbing to accomplish tasks.
  • Corrected vision and hearing to normal or near normal range.
  • Extended periods of sitting and/or walking depending on specific duties.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Builds, tests, and debugs application(s) to ensure the system meets end user requirements, involving end users in the process and testing when appropriate.
  • Ability to deliver software solutions through the entire system development lifecycle (requirements, design, build, test, deploy, and support).
  • Develop and maintain functional specifications and operational process flows or other necessary documentation for approved system enhancements or modifications.
  • Provide technical resource to identify, analyze, prioritize, and resolve system needs
  • Able to use cases, work flows and metrics to configure, maintain and monitor system uses
  • Provides suggestions for potential application modifications, enhancements or business process changes as appropriate as well as advising business and technical counterparts regarding current system functionality
  • Produce and provide analysis through reports, dashboards, and analytic tools to management
  • Adheres to organizational policies and procedures and documents change control and system problems according to departmental procedures.
  • Able to lead multiple concurrent projects, support multiple application modules, and manage user expectations
  • Serves as a mentor and resource to other analysts, educates and coaches other team members
  • Manages projects to completion according to department standards with little or no guidance.
  • Collaborates with operational leaders, user groups and key stakeholders to review and prioritize system enhancements and upgrades
  • Collaborates with technical resources on projects, and systems maintenance to ensure the needs of the business are met
  • Strong organizational skills in managing multiple priorities
  • Identifies and resolves complex issues.
