Job Description

This posting is set to close on Friday, June 26th, 2026, EOB.

Hours will primarily be on the second Wednesday (8 am - 5 pm) of every month, additional hours will be based on the organization's needs. This position will be subject to work 10 hours per week or less.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides counter assistance to the public, including communicating procedures and policies. Continues arraignments, hearing dates and driving school returns. Records information tendered at the counter.
  • Performs check-in of defendants. Processes out-take paperwork, including receiving cash payments and explaining requirements and forms.
  • Coordinates community service work crews. Processes associated paperwork, and supervises crews on-site.
  • Accepts and processes payments for traffic or misdemeanor tickets.
  • Prepares courtroom for court night and cleans up after court night.
  • Assists with coordination of annual Santa’s Second Chance program.
  • Performs scanning of court documents.
  • Assists with maintaining teen court records and statistics.
  • Assists with community education and production of mock trials.
  • May assist with training and scheduling (Interns) or (Office Assistants).
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications:

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Must be at least 16 years old

Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is preferred

Experience:  At least six (6) months of customer service experience that includes cash-handling, Castle Rock Teen Court Volunteer with Teen Court "Law School" completion preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to learn and apply legal terminology and Town of Castle Rock Municipal Court regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Effective communication skills to relay policies and procedures, and to provide information to customers.
  • Ability to remain poised when dealing with public in difficult situations.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to make decisions based on good judgment.
  • Skill in utilizing computerized database systems.
  • Ability to learn and properly apply Colorado Open Records Act.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member. 
  • Ability to complete work product in a timely manner despite tight deadlines and frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Sedentary work for long periods of time
  • Occasional physical work lifting no more than 10 pounds 
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standing
  • Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate personal computer and office equipment
  • Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information
  • Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens

Work Environment: 

  • Works primarily in a clean, comfortable environment

Equipment Used: 

  • Uses general modern office equipment, to include, keyboard, 10-key adding machines, and telephones 
  • This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment
 
Must satisfactorily complete a criminal background and driving record check prior to commencing employment.
