Role:
The Assistant Baseball Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Baseball Coach in all aspects of the program. This includes coaching student-athletes, recruiting qualified student-athletes, supporting academic success, organizing practices, coordinating travel, and promoting a positive and competitive team culture that aligns with institutional and athletic association standards.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Coaching and Player Development
- Assist in planning, organizing, and conducting team practices and workouts.
- Provide instruction in individual and team baseball skills, techniques, and strategies.
- Analyze player performance and assist in developing improvement plans.
- Support game preparation, scouting, and in-game coaching responsibilities.
- Monitor student-athlete conditioning, skill development, and overall performance.
Recruiting
- Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with high school coaches, club coaches, and recruiting contacts.
- Coordinate recruiting visits and communications with prospective students and families.
- Maintain recruiting records and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
Student-Athlete Support
- Promote academic achievement, retention, and graduation of student-athletes.
- Monitor academic progress and collaborate with academic support staff.
Program Operations
- Assist with team travel arrangements, equipment management, and game-day operations.
- Help maintain practice and competition facilities.
- Assist with scheduling and administrative duties as directed by the Head Coach.
Performance Measurements:
- To assist in the development of student athletes in the areas of athletic performance, academic achievement, and social awareness.
- To understand and adhere to NJCAA, KJCAA, Region VI, and Garden City Community College policies and procedures.
- To demonstrate leadership on the campus of Garden City Community College through athletics.
