Job Description
Overview

The Assistant Payroll Manager position is responsible for processing the weekly payroll, including any associated reporting. They will serve as the main support and backup for the Payroll Manager with processing the biweekly and the bonus payrolls. They will also provide customer service to both stores and Team Headquarters associates, vendors, and government agencies. They will be responsible for processing and implementing court-ordered wage garnishments and legal documentation, and with the research associated with unemployment claims. Furthermore, this position will assist the Payroll Team as needed with payroll processes and additional projects.


Responsibilities

  • Process weekly payroll, includes running weekly BI reports
  • Assist and provide back-up with processing Bi-weekly and bonus payroll
  • Analyze and recommend resolution to payroll and tax issues
  • Complete subpoenas and wage statements for Payroll, Legal or Worker’s Compensation
  • Provide customer service to employees, vendors, government agencies, legal counsel, other
  • Assist Payroll Coordinators as needed with timecards, other projects
  • Provide written and verbal verification of employment, unemployment audits,  other
  • Processes and implements wage garnishments, legal documentation

Qualifications

  • Strong time management and organization skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer-focused, with emphasis on building and maintaining relationships.
  • Ability to generate creative solutions and approaches. Computer skills: Spreadsheet Software, Word Processing, Internet, Human Resource and Payroll Systems (preferably Ultimate Payroll Software)
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where some standardization exists; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business reports, technical procedures and /or government regulations; write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
