SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Assistant Test Laboratory Technician will help support the performance of functional and safety evaluations on new and existing Kimber products to ensure Kimber’s quality policy and safety standards are met. This includes but is not limited to operating equipment, performing magazine loading, and shooting firearms according to established procedures in a safe and quality manner. Kimber is looking for an individual with manual dexterity, solid initiative and work ethic, attention to detail, and a desire to play a critical role in supporting team activities and objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attention to detail is paramount. Above all else, candidate must show ability to perform duties accurately and precisely with extreme focus on even the smallest of details
- Load magazines for testing in large quantities and accurately in support of ongoing high-volume firearm testing
- Assist in troubleshooting various firearm malfunctions
- Perform quality control tests or measurements in the lab as well as off-site when necessary
- Assist with testing and preparing lab equipment in preparation for specific tasks
- Assist in preparation of samples and data sheets prior to testing
- Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure product integrity and quality control
- Assist in analyzing retrieved data and in preparing reports for engineering team and management
- Support maintenance and organization of the R&D lab, range and testing facility, and magazine and ammunition rooms
- Recognize and report any gun safety issues
- Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally
- Adhere and monitor SOP
- Effectively communicate and notify supervisor when there are any discrepancies
- Must be able to accurately input all required data into the manufacturing database
- Complete other duties as assigned by manager
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

- Knowledge of firearms; quality, features, safety, etc.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

- Must be able to work accurately and efficiently in a fast work environment that has the potential to change due to regulatory and business needs
- Need to be detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to multi-task
- Experience working independently with little supervision
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
Preferred:
- One year of experience in manufacturing or related technical field
- Vocational/Technical Degree
- 5S knowledge and experience
- Microsoft Office experience
- Basic understanding of statistics
- Experience with completing forms/reports
- Highly organized - neat and precise in their work
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write, listen, and follow instructions. Must be able to effectively communicate failure mode and root cause conditions for accurate diagnostics.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Basic mathematics to include statistics.
REASONING ABILITIY
Ability to adjust as needed by following standard operating procedures.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Travel will normally be less than 5% (training, equipment development, satellite facility support).

Attendance is an essential job requirement defined as having regular, consistent, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance including the ability to work regular hours and shifts, overtime before and after shifts and on weekends. Ability to work as part of a team, including all related departments/plants or independently as required to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction.
