The City is seeking an Assistant Transit Manager to help lead the daily operations of our transit system and support the delivery of safe, reliable, and customer-focused transportation service. 
As the Assistant Transit Manager, you will service as a key member of the Transit leadership team, helping oversee daily transit operations and ensuring service excellence for our riders and community. This position works closely with transit staff, supervisors, operators, maintenance personnel, and community partners to support efficient and effective transit services.

About this Opportunity   
Plans, organizes, implements, monitors, directs, and assists in overseeing the transit operations and administrative functions for the City under the general supervision of the Transit Manager.

Position Duties

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning, organizing, directing, and overseeing transit operations and administrative functions for the City.
  • Manages day-to-day transit operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable service delivery.
  • Directly supervises and evaluates Transit Supervisors, including assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Oversees workforce performance, staffing coverage, incident response, and operational discipline consistency.
  • Coordinates and supports safety, training, and operational compliance activities.
  • Reviews service performance data and operational trends and recommends corrective actions and service improvements.
  • Assists with preparation and monitoring of operating and capital budgets.
  • Supports development and implementation of service changes, route modifications, and service expansion initiatives.
  • Assists with capital program implementation, including fleet transition initiatives and transit facility, stop, and amenity improvements.
  • Reviews applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices and recommends operational or policy improvements.
  • In the absence of the Transit Manager, performs assigned internal operational and administrative duties as delegated.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, community & regional planning, or transit management; and
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in transit operations supervision/management, labor/management relations, public administration, customer service, community & regional planning, leadership; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population.

  • Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
